Bulgaria's Jan-May 2016 Total Exports down 3.5% Y/Y - Statistics

Sofia, July 11 (BTA) - In the period January - May 2016 the value of all exported goods from Bulgaria amounted to 17,743,600 leva and, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2015, exports decreased by 3.5 per cent, preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute released Monday show.

In May 2016 the total exports added up to 3,516,400 leva or by 5.4 per cent less than the same month of the previous year.

The total value of all the goods imported in the country in the period January - May 2016 amounted to 19,568,800 leva (at CIF prices), or by 7.0 per cent less than the corresponding period of 2015.

In May 2016 the total imports decreased by 3.2 per cent compared to the same month of the previous year and added up to 4,058,100 leva.

The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative in the period January - May 2016 and amounted to 1,825,200 leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) in the period January - May 2016 the total foreign trade balance was also negative and added up to 559,100,000 leva.

In May 2016 the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative and amounted to 541,700,000 leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices was also negative and added up to 312,600,000 leva.

In the period January - April 2016 Bulgarian exports to the EU grew by 3.3 per cent in comparison with the same period of 2015 and amounted to 9,595,200 leva.

In April 2016 the exports to the EU increased by 5.5 per cent compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and added up to 2,535,300 leva.

Bulgarian imports from the EU in the period January - April 2016 decreased by 1.3 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 10,549,100 leva at CIF prices.

In April 2016 the Bulgarian imports from the EU Member States dropped by 6.0 per cent in comparison with April 2015 and amounted to 2,695,400 leva.

The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU in the period January - April 2016 was negative and added up to to 953,900,000 leva. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the trade balance was also negative and amounted to 248,400,000 leva.

In the period January - May 2016 Bulgarian exports to third countries decreased by 15.4 per cent in comparison with the same period of 2015 and amounted to 5,752,700 leva.

In May 2016 Bulgarian exports to third countries dropped by 21.3 per cent compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and added up to 1,120,700 leva.

Bulgarian imports from third countries in the period January - May 2016 decreased by 17.4 per cent in comparison with the same period of 2015 and added up to 6,417,300 leva (at CIF prices).

In May 2016 Bulgarian imports from third countries dropped by 9.4 per cent compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 1,455,700 leva.

The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in the period January - May 2016 was negative and added up to 664,600,000 leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and amounted to 234,200,000 leva.

In May 2016 the foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative and added up to 335,000,000 leva.
