Second Stage Completed of Project for Extension of Service Life of Power Unit 5 of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant

Kozloduy, Northwestern Bulgaria, October 25 (BTA) - The second stage of the project for the extension of the service life of power unit 5 of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant was completed on Tuesday after the signing of a memorandum on the handover of the final documents vis-a-vis the extension of the generator's life.

The memorandum in respect of the activities performed vis-a-vis exploring the opportunities for extending the service life of the generator with up to 60 years were signed by Rosatom Service Director General Evgeny Salkov and Kozloduy N-plant Executive Director Ivan Andreev in the presence of Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova, Rosatom First Deputy Director General Kiril Komarov, and Chairman of the Nuclear Regulation Agency Luchezar Kostov.

The document states that the results of the studies conducted within the project show that the equipment, building structures and systems are in working condition and can be safely used until 2047.
