Bulgarian ICT Specialists Increase in Five Years - Eurostat

Sofia, October 26 (BTA) - Nearly 70,000 people in the EU were employed in the ICT sector in 2015, according to a Eurostat analysis. In comparison, those employed in the sector five years ago numbered 55,000, an increase of some 15,000. The share of ICT specialists in Bulgaria's employed was 2.3 per cent, compared to an average 3.5 per cent in EU-28.

The analysis shows that 53 per cent of those employed in Bulgaria's ICT sector are men, 54 per cent are under 35, and nearly 70 per cent have higher education and very good income.

The average pay in the sector was one of the highest in the Bulgarian labour market, ranging from 700-800 euro per month for young specialists to 1,500-2,000 euro for an average managerial position.

The ICT sector is the fastest developing segment of Bulgarian economy, with the work of a highly-qualified specialist generating 15,000-20,000 euro a year, some two or three times over the average labour productivity in this country.
