Police Cracks Down on Organized Criminal Group Involved in Trafficking of Women for Sexual Exploitation in
Germany

Sofia, October 31 (BTA) - A special police operation conducted simultaneously in Bulgaria and in Germany on October 25 cracked down on a Bulgarian organized criminal group involved in trafficking of women for sexual exploitation in Germany, the Interior Ministry and the prosecuting magistracy said in a press release Monday.

The victims were recruited in Bulgaria and send on to pimps in Berlin. Three members of the group were arrested. Charges were pressed against four members of the group.

In Bulgaria the raid took place in ten cities in different places in the country.

The mastermind of the group, who had been issued a European arrest warrant, was detained in Pazardjik, Southern Bulgaria, and is about to be handed over to the German investigation authority.

Two Bulgarians members of the group were detained in Berlin, against whom the local prosecution office has already pressed charges. The German police searched and seized evidence in two night clubs and a number of residences.
