20.3 Per Cent of People to Vote for GERB, 18.4 Per Cent for Socialist Party, 10.1 Per Cent for United Patriots, Latest Polls Shows

Sofia, December 22 (BTA) - If elections were held today, 20.3 per cent of the voters will support GERB, 18.4 per cent - the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), 10.1 per cent - the United Patriots, 6.3 per cent - the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, 5.2 per cent - the party of businessman Vesselin Mareshki, and 3.3 per cent - the Reformist Bloc, according to a Gallup International opinion poll conducted by phone. The survey polled 1,007 adult Bulgarians between December 19 and 21 and did not depend on external funding, the polling agency said.

The Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and the ABV Movenet would gain 1.4 per cent of the votes each, while 1.2 per cent of voters will choose the Bulgarian Democratic Centre. The 21 Movement is close to one per cent, while DOST, the Green, and the Vox Populi are under one per cent but still with visible shares.

Close to 22 per cent of the voters will not go to the polls, while 3.4 per cent will vote for other parties, and 4.8 per cent will mark None of the Above box in the ballot.

The poll tested the performance of potential parties, such as a party of TV talk show anchor Slavi Trifonov which would have a strong showing of 12 per cent that may grow even further.

The test of the potential of a political project of DSB leader Radan Kanev showed tentative levels of 1.5 per cent, while the potential of the Yes Bulgaria Movement being set up by former justice minister Hristo Ivanov was measured at around one per cent. The pollster noted that these projects share the same niche and their viability will primarily depend on the strength of their campaigns and their coalition policies.
