More than Two Million Leva Raised in Bulgarian Christmas Charity Campaign

Sofia, December 26 (BTA) - More than two million leva were collected by Monday in the fourteenth edition of the Bulgarian Christmas charity campaign held under the auspices of the Head of State, the President's press secretariat said.

This year's edition of the campaign raises money in support of children with serious chronic diseases.

The money raised by means of texts and calls to the number 1117 exceeds 700,000 leva, while 1.4 million leva were paid in the charity bank account.

A charity gala was held on Christmas evening attended by President Rosen Plevneliev, Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, MPs, diplomats, members of the public and many children aided by the campaign.

A total of 3,409 children and 229 medical establishments have received support from the Bulgarian Christmas in the thirteen previous editions of the initiative. The raised money totals 30 million leva.
