site.btaHealth Minister Petrov Participates in Belt and Road High Level Meeting for Health Cooperation

Beijing/Sofia, August 20 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Health Minister Nikolai Petrov took part in the Belt and Road High Level Meeting for Health Cooperation: Towards a Health Silk Road, held on China's initiative, the Health Ministry said.

The meeting was attended by ministers, leaders and senior health care officials from Asia and Central and Eastern Europe, the World Health Organization, UNAIDS, UNICEF and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, among others.

Discussions focused on the prevention of infectious diseases and epidemics, maternal and child health care, medical research and development, experience sharing and improvements in health care policies.

Petrov held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from China, Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, Romania and Croatia, and invited WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to visit Bulgaria.

China's health minister and deputy health minister, Li Bin and Cui Li, showed an interest in deepening bilateral cooperation through trainings, exchanges of specialists, conferences and seminars.

Petrov also asked his Mongolian counterpart to visit Bulgaria.

Croatia reaffirmed its commitment to organize a visit by a Bulgarian delegation interested in e-health care projects.
