The new Youth and Sport Minister, Ivan Peshev, feels "highly motivated to work for the interests of sport" and said "there is much to do". He was speaking to BTA on the sideline of a ceremony for naming the winner of BTA's traditional Balkan Athlete of the Year poll.
Commenting the BTA poll, he said he was pleased to attend. "The Balkans have given the world many outstanding athletes; we see the names featured in the top ten. I am truly happy that among them is the Bulgarian Carlos Nassar. He achieved remarkable success in 2024 by winning Olympic, World, and European titles. I congratulate all the athletes who made it among the best in the Balkans. I wish them a year filled with new successes and peak achievements. I also want to thank the Bulgarian News Agency, which has been organizing this ceremony for the 51st time. The successes of athletes should be respected and showcased during ceremonies because they serve as a positive example for young people to follow," said Peshev.
Peshev also stated that he is ready to collaborate with the new Association of Bulgarian Sports Federations (ABSF).
"Undoubtedly, the creation of the association is a very positive development, as it unites many significant federations. I met with them the day before I was elected as Minister. We are on good terms, with strong connections, and with joint efforts, I believe we can achieve great things and see results. We have a lot of work ahead of us, an enormous amount," concluded the Minister of Youth and Sports.
