On his first working day on Friday, Culture Minister Marian Bachev reviewed and analyzed his Ministry's outstanding debts to the performing arts system, the Ministry said. It is recalled that in recent weeks the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) signalled that for three months many freelancers had not received payments under their civil contracts.
"As the first task of the officials in the Finance Department, Minister Bachev ordered, according to the available resources and in the order of receipt of requests, the payment of all fees ordered until January 16 under contracts concluded with individuals who have performed specialized services in the performing arts system and rely only on these contracts (actors, directors, stage designers, composers, artists, choreographers, dramaturgs, stagehands, lighting, sound designers, etc.)," the Ministry's statement reads.
The number of fees paid is over 1,000, totalling over BGN 303,000.
All orders received after January 16 will be paid in the order received in the following days.
