Sofia, July 6 (BTA) - Bulgarian Agriculture, Food and Forestry Minister Rumen Porodzanov and Chinese Ambassador in Sofia Zhang Haizhou signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for the export of hulled sunflower seeds. The signing ceremony took place at the Council of Ministers on Friday in the presence of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, the Government Information Service said.

Under the protocol, Bulgarian hulled sunflower seeds exported to China must conform to the phytosanitary laws and regulations of both countries.

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency will issue an official phytosanitary certificate for each separate shipment, expressly indicating the origin of the seeds. The produce exported must be in clean, hygienic and ventilated new packaging meeting Chinese phytosanitary requirements.

The protocol enters into force on the date of signature and is valid for three years.
