site.btaPM Borissov Cables Condolences to Turkish President Erdogan on Tekirdag Train Crash

Sofia, July 9 (BTA) - On behalf of the Bulgarian Government, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has cabled condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the train crash in Tekirdag Province (Northwestern Turkey), the Government Information Service said on Monday.

"Please convey our sympathies for the pain and grief of the families bereaved by that tragic accident," the cable reads. Borissov wishes the people injured in the crash early recovery.

Twenty-four people were killed and 338 injured on Sunday when a passenger train running from Uzunkopru to Istanbul came off the rails in Corlu District after heavy rain and a landslide, said Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdag, quoted by CNN Turk on Monday.

Bulgaria's Consulate General in Edirne does not have information about any Bulgarian citizens having been hurt in the train crash, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Monday. The Consulate has not been approached by Bulgarians for assistance in connection with the accident.
