Sofia, July 16 (BTA) - In 2017, 1,681 crimes against the work of state authorities, public organizations and entities performing public activities ended with convictions, which is 6.3 per cent of all sanctioned crimes, the National Statistical Institute said Monday, releasing 2017 crime statistics. A total of 1,732 people, or 6.7 per cent of all convicts, were convicted of such crimes. Compared to 2016, crimes ending with convictions decreased by 46.9 per cent, and the number of convicted persons were 49.4 per cent less.

Illegal border crossing is the most frequent crime among crimes against the work of state authorities, public organizations and entities performing public activities. A total of 897 people were convicted for 811 border tresspassings, respectively 51.8 per cent of all convicted persons of such crimes in 2017, and 48.2 per cent of offences.

A total of 143 people were convicted for 94 illegal border crossings.

In 2007, 2,009 crimes against business ended with convictions, or 7.5 per cent of the convicted crimes. A total of 2,023 people were convicted of such crimes, or 7.8 per cent of all convicted persons.
