Socialist Party Advises Its MPs to Vote against Government

Sofia, November 4 (BTA) - Mihail Mikov, Chairman of the
Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), said the Executive Bureau
recommended that the BSP-Left Bulgaria parliamentary group vote
against the election of a Council of Ministers when it is
proposed.

He gave a news conference after a party leadership meeting.

BSP Spokesman Atanas Merdjanov said the negotiations between
GERB and other parliamentary forces were useful at their start
nearly a month ago but were now headed for "a political fiasco".
Clearly, this is a case of open horse-bargaining over sectoral
policies and ministerial nominations. He stated that his party
would resolutely condemn the wrong moves of the future
government.

Mikov said the BSP was considering proposing a bill to determine
the caretaker cabinet's functions. Initial assessments show
that the caretaker cabinet's actions, not just its personnel
selection decisions, overstep its constitutional powers.

The BSP's National Council is meeting on Friday to discuss
changes in the Executive Bureau.
