June 2015 Revenue from Overnights of Foreigners Down 15.8% Y/Y - Statistics

Sofia, August 11 (BTA) - Revenues from overnights in June 2015 reached 127.3 million leva or 12 per cent less year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute said on Tuesday. A decrease was registered in the revenue from foreigners, 15.8 per cent, while revenue from Bulgarians increased 4.5 cent.

In June 2015, the total occupancy of the beds at accommodation establishments was 38.2 per cent, down by 6.2 percentage points year-on-year. The highest occupancy was in 4- and 5-star accommodation establishments (51.2 per cent).

Overnights spent at all accommodation establishments registered in June 2015 numbered 2,909,400 or by 14.7 per cent less year-on-year, the greatest drop in the number of overnights (25.7 per cent) being registered at 3-star establishments.

In June 2015 there were 2,731 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 beds - functioning in the country. The total number of rooms stood at 123,500 and of the beds - at 269,100. Compared to June 2014, the number of accommodation establishments has risen by 2.6 per cent and the number of beds in them, by 0.2 per cent.
