Prime Minister Borissov Opens Multinational Tactical Exercise Strike Back 16

Novo Selo Training Area, April 11 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov opened here Monday the multinational tactical exercise, code-named Strike Back 16.

The objective is to certify a motorized infantry battalion group of the Bulgarian Land Forces. The certification will be carried out between April 19 and 21. 

The exercise also aims to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the motorized infantry battalion group's and the military headquarters' readiness for deployment and participation in joint operations with NATO partners. The evaluation is done by a US Army Europe commission.

Up to 740 servicemen are participating in the exercise, 35 of whom are from the US Armed Forces, along with 190 units of military, transport and special equipment.

The opening was attended by Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev and Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Konstantin Popov. A VIP Day is scheduled for April 19.
