GERB, United Patriots with Closer Positions on Pensions, Talks Continue

Sofia, April 10 (BTA) - GERB and the United Patriots have come to closer positions on pensions, coalition co-leader and National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB) leader Valeri Simeonov told journalists Monday. This is a serious matter and talks continue, he underscored and insisted that he should not be pressured for more details on the subject.

Simeonov did not answer whether this means they are ready to step back from their initial statement that minimum pensions should become 300 leva because he did not want to talk before the outcome of the talks. A new meeting is scheduled for Tuesday.

GERB Deputy Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov is convinced that by the end of the week there will be results that can be made public and serve as the foundation for a stable four-year government with party leader Boyko Borissov as prime minister. Today the sides have discussed sectoral policies and have come to an absolute consensus on security, energy, tourism and sport.

Both Tsvetanov and Simeonov declared ministerial positions were not discussed either. First the matter of the programme should be resolved and only then can there be talks about the structure of the cabinet and its members. This could happen both by the end of next week and by the end of the month. The matter of who will chair the next National Assembly and the name of the next Bulgarian European Commissioner has not been debated either.
