site.btaNational History Museum Visits Louvre with "Preslav Treasure" Exhibition

Sofia, June 26 (BTA) - Bulgaria's National Museum of History is to open an exhibition titled "Preslav Treasure and Preslav, Bulgaria's Medieval Capital" at the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Bulgarian institution said.

The exhibition will be on from June 30 to November 5, 2018, in the Richelieu wing. It is dedicated to the First Bulgarian Kingdom and features 45 items from the Veliki Preslav Archaeological Museum, the National Museum of History and the National Archaeological Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Visitors will be able to see the Preslav Gold Treasure, which was made in Constantinople around the end of the 10th century.

Besides stone figures from buildings in Preslav, the National Museum of History will also show an extremely interesting gold-plated silver buckle.

The French curator of the event, Jannic Durand, heads the  Louvre's Art Department. His counterparts on the Bulgarian side include Dr. Andrei Aladzhov of the National Archaeological Institute and Plamen Slavov, Director of the Veliki Preslav Archaeological Museum.

The exhibition has been co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and the Louvre.
