The 9th edition of the European Crafts Days is being held from April 2 until April 7 in Antonovo, Gabrovo, Dryanovo, Elena, Sevlievo, Teteven, Troyan and Tryavna, said the Regional Association of the Municipalities.

On the first days of the event the Municipality of Antonovo together with Hristo Botev Primary School will showcase traditional Bulgarian crafts like spinning and felting of wool, embroidery, as well as kneading of bread and making yogurt and butter.

Gabrovo Municipality will offer a creative crafts bazaar, which will feature several local young artisans who will present handmade items like flowers, jewellery, candles and textiles. There will also be a caramel apple making demonstration and a bakery for ceremonial bread.

The Museum of the Architectural Historical Reserve Bozhentsi will participate in the event with two workshops for making jewellery from beads and natural stones, while the Etar Museum's Children Center invites young visitors to participate in a workshop for pottery craft. Participation in the workshop is free, but there is an entrance fee for the museum.

At the Ikonomova House in Dryanovo local artisans will demonstrate their skills to residents and guests of the city and showcase the intricacies of icon painting, wood carving and crocheting.

Elena Municipality will offer creative activities for children in ceramics, wood carving, pottery and beadwork.

The Historical Museum of Sevlievo and the Municipality of Sevlievo will organize a decoration of the space in front of the Hadji Stoyan School, as well as workshops, demonstrations of various artistic crafts and a musical program.

Teteven Municipality will organize a bazaar of products from local master craftsmen and a thematic exhibition in the completely renovated central square of Teteven.

The Museum of Traditional Crafts and Applied Arts in Troyan will hold a knitting workshop.

Tryavna Municipality will organize ivy painting workshops for children from kindergartens in Tryavna and Plachkovtsi.

European Crafts Days is an initiative of the French National Institute of Crafts. It started as a local event in 2002, but has become the leading event in the field of creative crafts and living heritage in Europe today.
