An exhibition of original photographs from the Russo-Turkish War (1877-78) is on display at the Pleven Panorama on the occasion of the 146th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria. Sixteen panels with 100 original photos from the museum's collection present main moments of the Russo-Turkish War and the Siege of Pleven, Irena Petrova, curator and fund custodian at the Pleven Military History Museum, told BTA.

Most of the photos were donated to the museum by the Russian and Romanian Defence Ministries, Petrova said. Their authors are Russian photographer Alexander Ivanov and the court photographer of the Romanian prince Carol I, Franz Dušek.

The old photographs preserve the memory of legendary generals, Russian and Romanian military units participating in the preparation and conduct of the military campaign on the Danube Front. The highlight of the exhibition are two original portraits of Alexander II of Russia. A photograph from 1877 of Osman Pasha, commander of the Turkish army at Pleven, is also part of the exhibition along with several copies of documents, including the preliminary Peace Treaty of San Stefano.

The exhibition is on until the end of April.
