site.btaUPDATED Bulgarian Folk Ensemble Wins Bronze at Dance World Cup in Prague

The Ludi Mladi folk ensemble from Shumen won a bronze medal at the Dance World Cup finals in Prague. The ensemble with the Sava Dobroplodni Secondary School in Shumen competed with 40 ensembles from 37 countries, Ludi Mladi choreographer Boris Ivanov told BTA.

Ludi Mladi performed two dances in Prague: Srednogortsi (choreography by Assoc Prof Georgi Hinov) and Pirinski Tanz (choreography by Boris Ivanov).

On the Ludi Mladi ensemble are 32 dancers aged between 14 and 21. Together with Ivanov, they will give a news conference at the BTA National Press Club in Shumen after they return from Czechia.

In 2021, the ensemble won bronze medals at the World Dance Cup in Telford, UK, with a performance of Ludoselskata, a folk dance typical of Northeastern Bulgaria and based on choreography by Ivanov and music by Dr Petyo Krastev. In 2018, Ludi Mladi won in the Typical Dances category of the World Dance Cup in Spain, after competing with over 10,000 participants.
