site.btaEU Council Adopts Commissioners-Designate List

The Council of the European Union on Thursday adopted, by common accord with European Commission President-elect Ursula von der Leyen, the list of persons whom she proposes for appointment as members of the Commission until October 31, 2029, the Council said in a press release.

The Bulgarian commissioner-designate is Ekaterina Gecheva-Zaharieva.

The decision will now be forwarded to the European Parliament and published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The European Parliament is now to schedule dates for hearings of the candidates at the competent committees and take a vote in plenary on the full complement of the second Von der Leyen European Commission. Next, its appointment will have to be endorsed by the European Council by a qualified majority. The new Commission is expected to start work before the end of 2024.
