site.btaBulgaria among Founding Members of European Boxing

The Bulgarian Boxing Federation (BBF) became part of the founding members of the new continental confederation European Boxing, BBF said on Monday. The historic event took place during the World Boxing Congress in the Czech capital, Prague.

Lars Brovil will be the president of the new organization, which was created with the participation of BBF President Krasimir Ininski. During the meeting an Executive Bureau was elected to run European Boxing. This will enable a full calendar to be held this year, which will be under the umbrella of the new structure.

This fulfills another requirement of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC). The ultimate goal is the full acceptance of World Boxing into the IOC family, so that the tournaments it organizes will be part of the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

"The creation of European Boxing is a historic event, another step towards boxing's full return to where it belongs - in the Olympic family," said Krasimir Ininski in Prague.
