Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov congratulated Bulgarian karateka Adriana Boyadzhieva, who won a gold medal at the 2025 Cadet, Junior & U21 European Karate Championships in Bielsko-Biala, Poland, the Council of Ministers reported on Sunday.
"With a strong spirit and impressive performance, she rightfully climbed to the top in the 54 kg kumite [weight] class. This success is a source of pride for Bulgaria and proof of the talent and perseverance of our athletes. The state will continue to support and encourage the development of Bulgarian sports, so we can witness even more triumphs on the international stage. Bravo, Adriana!" the message on the government's Facebook page reads.
The tournament in Poland gathers over 1,200 athletes from 49 countries, competing for titles in kata and kumite. Bulgaria is represented by 22 athletes – 19 in kumite and three in kata.
