Burgas Airport will be carrying out urgent runway repairs until March 28 to ensure smooth and safe passenger service during the active summer season, airport's concessionaire Fraport Twin Star Airport Management JSC said on Wednesday.

The repair works will affect approximately 1,000 sq m of runway and rehabilitation of about 4,250 sq m of taxiway asphalt. The investment is part of the company's long-term strategy for sustainable development and meeting all international safety and security criteria and requirements, the concessionaire said.

Burgas Airport will reopen with a flight from London Luton Airport on March 29. On March 30, Ryanair will start its flight program with regular flights from Warsaw and Krakow to Burgas. It is the flight from Krakow that will be the one that will be solemnly welcomed next Sunday, the management of Burgas Airport said.

This flight will mark the symbolic start of the 2025 season, as it is expected to bring the first tourists to the South Black Sea coast, the airport added.
