The operator of the Burgas Port, BMF Port Burgas AD, launched Wednesday a project to improve railway connectivity of the facility, Burgas Municipality said on its website. The project is co-funded by the European Climate, Environment and Infrastructure Executive Agency (CINEA).

Deputy Transport Minister Angel Zaburtov called the project "a fine example of a smoothly functioning port model with the support of local authorities and that of public-private partnership" between the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure State Company (BPISC), the Ministry of Transport and BMF Port Burgas.

Railway infrastructure will be built at two port terminals. The idea is to achieve faster cargo transportation, BPISC Executive Director Ivaylo Ivanov added.
