site.btaBulgaria Takes Part in ProWein Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits in Dusseldorf

Bulgaria is represented by 33 wineries at ProWein, the international trade fair for wines and spirits in Dusseldorf, between March 16 and 18. The country's participation in the world's largest international fair for this industry offers a chance to popularize Bulgarian winemaking and strengthen its presence on the international market, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Stefan Burdzhev said during the opening of the Bulgarian booth at the exhibition, as quoted by his ministry on Sunday. He said this is evidenced by the large number of Bulgarian participants, seven more than in 2024.
Burdzhev was formally welcomed by Michael Degen, Director for Trade Fairs, and Peter Schmitz, Director of ProWein.
The Bulgarian exhibitors present a variety of high-quality red, white and rosé wines produced in various regions of the country, including the Black Sea Coast, the Thracian Valley, the Struma Valley, the Danubian Plain and the Fore-Balkan. Visitors can taste wine from grape varieties typical of the country, such as Mavrud, Gamza, Dimiat, Misket, Rubin and Melnik.
The national booth has a floor area of 216 square metres and is divided into a presentation zone and a tasting zone. Visitors can taste select wines and learn about the history and the tradition of Bulgarian winemaking while Bulgarian producers can establish international contacts to expand the presence of Bulgarian wine on international markets.
Burdzhev greeted the exhibitors on behalf of Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov and expressed the ministry's support for the national wine industry. The meetings were also attended by Bulgarian Ambassador to Germany Grigor Porozhanov and the Bulgarian Honorary Consul in Munster, Werner Jostmeier.
ProWein features products from the world's leading wine regions: Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Portugal and many overseas countries. In 2024, there were about 6,000 exhibitors from 65 countries. This year, ProWein is expected to be visited by more than 50,000 professionals from around the world.
