Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met with UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili and the delegation led by him in the Foreign Ministry building in Sofia, the Ministry's press centre said on Thursday.

The two sides discussed the opportunities for expanding the cooperation between Bulgaria and UN Tourism. The Foreign Minister pointed out that the country actively participates in the activities of UN Tourism (formerly World Tourism Organization of the United Nations, UNWTO), including as a member of the Executive Board with a term in office until the end of 2027, and stressed that Bulgaria shares the vision of the Organization to promote competitive and sustainable tourism policies.

UN Tourism is the most significant and influential international organization in the field of tourism. Bulgaria has been its member since 1976.
