The Burgas Municipal Council on Tuesday voted for municipal companies to participate in the civil Energy Association Burgas.

The municipal companies, which include Blagoustrostveni stroezhi Burgas, Burgasbus, Burgas Markets and many more, will participate in the construction of a photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 400 KW on the roof of the Park Arena OZK indoor swimming pool in Slaveykov district. Each of the municipal companies will participate in the project with the amount of BGN 10,000.

The Energy Association Burgas, which unites all residents and companies who have made financial contributions to the project, will carry out all necessary activities on design, delivery, installation and construction of the photovoltaic plant. The produced energy will be purchased by the Municipality and used mainly for the needs of the swimming complex.

Preliminary data show that over 85% of the expected generated solar energy will be used directly at the production site in the swimming pool, which makes the investment extremely effective and sustainable, said Burgas Deputy Mayor for Budget and Finance Stanimir Apostolov. He also noted that the project will contribute to optimizing the costs of electricity for public purposes and increase the share of green energy in the total mix of energy sources used in Burgas.
