Products and services of top Chinese companies which are leaders in the field of technology, innovation, digitization, banking, logistics, transport and energy will go on display at Sofia's National Palace of Culture (NDK) on Thursday, September 12, said the organizers from the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria and the "One Belt, One Road" Bulgarian National Association.
President Rumen Radev will take part in the opening of the fair, the President's press secretariat said. The event will continue until September 14.
A Bulgaria-China Business Meeting will be held as well, along with bilateral sessions between businesspeople from the two countries.
The fair will mark 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China. It is aimed to boost bilateral investment ties.
During the fair, President Radev will talk with Chinese Ambassador in Sofia Dai Qingli and senior Chinese business executives, Radev's press secretariat said.
Over 60 companies, including 24 from China, have confirmed their participation in the event. The Chinese firms are active in renewable energy and energy storage, digitization, financial services, consumer electronics, infrastructure engineering, biotechnology and logistics, Ambassador Dai told a BTA-hosted news conference on September 10. She said the aim is to highlight the important contribution of the business sector to the development of China's relations with Bulgaria over the last 75 years and to provide a platform for exchange and cooperation between businesses of the two countries. The fair will allow Bulgarian people to take a closer look at Chinese products and services, according to the diplomat.
China's trade with Bulgaria increased to USD 4.2 billion in 2023 from USD 1.8 billion in 2015, Dai said. Bulgaria has got ahead of Poland to become China's number one partner in Central and Eastern Europe in trade in agricultural products. The Ambassador noted that Chinese investments in the Bulgarian economy have shown remarkable progress in the auto industry (including the manufacture of car parts), renewable energy, communications, agriculture and finance. She expressed her confidence that even better results will be achieved in the future.
