Attending the 30th Golden Martenitsa Awards here on Thursday, President Rumen Radev said that "we need to make sure that the State and businesses look in the same direction, share a high level of ambition, cooperate, and partner with each other".

The Golden Martenitsa Awards have been instituted by the Made in Bulgaria - Union of Small and Medium Enterprises Association in an effort to facilitate the recovery of Bulgarian products and services and increase their competitiveness at home and abroad.

"We are no longer just talking about a reduced administrative burden and a predictable and sustainable regulatory environment to do business in Bulgaria, but also about helping businesses. If we want to have a full budget, if we want the government to proudly allocate large resources, the Government, the legislature, the State must help, even with something simple sometimes, even with information," the President said.

"We see the drive of small and medium businesses. [We see] how they move fast with a great deal of innovativeness, a high level of ambition, and a huge amount of hard work, while the State lags behind and sometimes even goes in reverse," Radev noted.

He said that it is crucial that a small part of the country’s gross domestic product be spent on advertising abroad.

Radev presented a Golden Martenitsa to Dragomir Winery Estate as a company that has established its brand on the Bulgarian and international markets.

Vice President Iliana Iotova handed a Golden Martenitsa to Desislava Tosheva, founder and owner of the Caviar Couture company. She is awarded in the category of small enterprises with unique production, that have established themselves on the international market.

A Golden Martenitsa for a successful and innovative company offering products of consistently high quality was awarded to Karnobatplod JSC. The award was presented by Petar Kanev, a member of the parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation.

Irina Nedkova, owner and manager of Eirene Studio Ltd., received a Golden Martenitsa for successful female entrepreneurship.
