site.btaFarmers Stage Protest, Want Agriculture Minister and His Staff to Resign
Around 100 farmers gathered in front of the Agriculture Ministry in Sofia on Thursday for a protest march through the central part of the city to press their demand for the resignation of Agriculture Minister Kiril Vatev and his staff.
The protesters were invited to meet with a deputy minister, because Vatev was out of town. They declined to send representatives into the ministry building and asked the deputy minister to come out instead.
The demonstrators insist on immediate payment of de minimis aid and compensation for damage inflicted by the Ukraine war.
They were holding signs which said: "Farmers Are Humiliated", "Grave Digger Vatev, Resign", and "We Don't Want Powdered Milk in Our Cheese! We Don't Want Deep-frozen Meat in Our Sausages!"
