Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Anna Natova Thursday said the activities planned for Operational Programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020 should be completed by the end of 2023, which requires full mobilization. She opened the third meeting of the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027 Monitoring Committee in Plovdiv, her Ministry said.

Natova also said: "We are nearing the end of the eligibility period for expenditures under the programme. This requires full mobilization. We also need to keep up a high pace of work on the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027. The projects planned for it are closely linked to the previous programme, so it is important to have continuity and a smooth transition, without causing delays."

Martin Georgiev, head of the Managing Authority of the operational programme, said it can be completed successfully if the ongoing optimization measures are implemented. The Zheleznitsa tunnel on the Struma Motorway is expected to be completed by the year's end.

Seven application procedures related to rail and road transport, urban intermodality and technical assistance have been launched under the Transport Connectivity Programme 2021-2027.
