In July 2023, the turnover in retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles at constant prices remained unchanged from June, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.

Turnover decreased in all major groups: in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores by 4.6%, in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco by 0.9% and in the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel) by 0.3%. 

The calendar-adjusted turnover went up by 1.6% compared to July 2022.

An increase was observed in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco (8.7%), while a decrease was registered in the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel) by 1.9% and in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores by 0.6%.

The Industrial Production Index decreased by 1.3% in July 2023 compared to June. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.

A drop was reported in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 8.4% and in the mining and quarrying industry by 8.1%, while manufacturing saw an increase by 0.9%.

In July 2023, the calendar-adjusted Industrial Production Index dropped by 11.5% compared with July 2022.

Compared with July 2022, a drop was observed in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 42.6%, in the mining and quarrying industry by 23.5%, and in manufacturing by 3.1%.

In July 2023, the Production Index in construction was unchanged compared with June. Civil engineering production fell by 0.1%, while building construction remained unchanged. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.

The calendar-adjusted data showed a 1.8% drop in construction production compared with July 2022. A decrease was registered in civil engineering by 3.8% and in building construction by 0.2%, the NSI said.
