Meeting on Thursday, Bulgaria's Council of Ministers approved an intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Water Resources between Bulgaria and Algeria, the Government Information Service said.

Under the document, the two countries' ministries will cooperate in: the exchange of experts and of experience in sustainable and integrated management of water resources, the environment and adjustment to climate change; water resources planning and management; good management of the water sector, training in water-related occupations; encouraging enterprises of the two countries to enter water-related auctions, research and construction with a view to expanding economic and trade cooperation.

The sides will cooperate by establishing and maintaining a cooperation and experts exchange programme in water resources, organizing symposiums, conferences, seminars, consultations and trainings on topics of mutual interest and other aspects that the sides have deemed appropriate.

The Memorandum is intended to establish a legal framework enabling Bulgaria and Algeria to pursue technological, scientific and economic cooperation in the field of water resources that is related to environmental protection.
