site.btaTrade Unions of Miners, Energy Workers to Organize National Protest Rally to Preserve Coal Mining

The trade union organizations of miners and energy workers in the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Confederation of Labour Podkrepa are organizing a national protest rally on September 19 to preserve coal mining and against the premature closure of capacities in the coal sector, the CITUB said on Tuesday.

The protest will be joined by CITUB and the Podkrepa’s trade unions in the Maritsa East complex, the National Federation of Energy Workers at CITUB, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Miners at CITUB, the SMF Podkrepa and the Energetics Federation at Podkrepa, as well as miners and energy workers from the entire coal mining sector in the country.

The protest will take place in Sofia between the buildings of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers on Blvd. Dondukov, the trade union said.
