Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Bulgaria stood at 4.6% in July, which is slightly above the 4.5% recorded the previous month and higher than the 4.2% reported in July 2022, show data from the European statistical office Eurostat published on Thursday on its website.

The unemployed in the country last month were 139,000, up by 2,000 from June and 3,000 from the same month last year.

The unemployment rate in the European Union remained at 5.9% in July - same as in June and below the 6.1% rate of July 2022.

Unemployment in the euro area in July stood at 6.4%, also the same as in June and below the 6.7% reported in the same month last year.

Eurostat estimated that 12.928 million people in the EU, of which 10.944 million in the euro area, were unemployed in July. Compared to June, the number of unemployed increased by 35,000 in the EU and by 73,000 in the euro area. It decreased by 209,000 in the EU and 264,000 in the euro area compared to July last year.
