Some 70 large Turkish companies operate in Bulgaria whose investments add up to EUR 2.5 billion, and they have opened 15,000 jobs, Turkiye's Ambassador in Sofia Aylin Sekizkok said here on Tuesday. She was addressing the participants in a forum on labour market opportunities in Northeastern Bulgaria, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, Labour and Social Policy Minister Ivanka Shalapatova, Education and Science Minister Galin Tsokov, Economy and Industry Minister Bogdan Bogdanov, and Innovation and Growth Minister Milena Stoycheva.

"There are quotas and legal obstacles to the import of personnel from Turkey," the diplomat added. In her opinion, vocational secondary schools should train skilled professionals that the companies need. Cooperation between universities and industrial circles is of great importance, too, the Ambassador also said.
