Bulgarian Economy and Industry Minister Bogdan Bogdanov and representatives of Sofia Municipality, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) and the National Company Industrial Zones (NCIZ) discussed funding opportunities and urgent action to build another road link to the Sofia-Bojurishte Industrial Park, Bogdanov's Ministry said on Thursday.

"Building a new link to the park is a priority. For years this has not been happening. Trucks wait 40 minutes to get out of the area. We have received numerous complaints from investors that they are being inconvenienced," Bogdanov said. He stressed that a second transport access to the industrial park is needed to ease traffic and logistics for companies operating there. According to him, over the years the industrial park has attracted mainly logistics investments, but there is no proper road infrastructure.

Despite the tripartite agreement signed in 2021 and approved by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works in 2022 between the RIA, Sofia Municipality and NCIZ for the implementation of specific projects and activities to provide transport access to the park, no measures have been taken and no action has been initiated so far for its implementation, it was revealed at the meeting.

The meeting identified concrete steps to prepare an up-to-date analysis of traffic to and from Bojurishte, a draft detailed development plan, as well as opportunities to secure funding to find the best solution for investors in the industrial park and for the citizens of the municipality of Bojurishte by easing industrial traffic.
