Pop icon Lili Ivanova will sing at Francofolies de Bulgarie in Plovdiv for the first time on June 21, the festival management said on Friday. During the 11th installment of the French-language music festival (June 20-21), Lili will make a special appearance performing a song in French.

The management said that Lili has a longstanding relationship with France, its music scene and its preeminent music venue, the Olympia in Paris. In 2009, the Bulgarian star held a memorable concert at the Olympia, which had been graced by such legends as Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour and Dalida. Lili has always had a soft spot for French music throughout her career, performing songs inspired by great French artists. This lends a deep symbolic meaning to her planned appearance at Francofolies de Bulgarie.

Lili has also announced two other dates in Plovdiv this year, at the outdoor Roman Theatre on September 13 and the indoor Sila Sport Complex on November 15.

In 2010, Lili recorded the song "Au nom de la foi" ("In the Name of Faith") in French, with music written by Christian Holl. This is also the title of one of her albums featuring 15 Bulgarian songs as well.
