La Bayadere will be presented in Sofia Opera and Ballet on February 14 and 15. One of the most exciting masterpieces of the famous Petipa is inspired by the drama of the ancient Indian poet Kalidas and Goethe's ballad La Bayadere. Tragedy and lyricism, the pursuit of happiness, love and freedom intertwine in this celebrated work set in ancient India.

Guilherme Gameiro Alves as Solor will be the guest soloist in La Bayadere. Alves graduated from the Lisbon Conservatory in 2007 and, with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, studied for two years at the Zurich Dance Academy under the direction of Oliver Matz.

In 2009 he joined the Finnish National Ballet. In 2011 he joined the Croatian National Theatre as a soloist and in 2017 he was promoted to premier soloist. He has performed all over the world in countries such as Russia, Japan, Italy, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Portugal and the Dominican Republic. He also participated in Vladimir Malakhov's gala concert in Ukraine.

He has received a gold medal in the senior category at the International Ballet Competition Tanzolymp in Berlin and has also won the Oscar Harmon Award for artistic excellence at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
