site.btaSt. Sophia Church Will Host Third Festival of Orthodox Art
The St. Sophia church will host the third edition of the festival of Orthodox art "Wisdom of God", the Sofia Metropolitanate said.
With the blessing of His Holiness the Metropolitan of Sofia and Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil, the event with open on November 11 at 6.30 pm.
Patriarch Daniel will deliver a speech and the church choir, conducted by Maria Ruseva will perform.
The festival will showcase performances by Orthodox choirs, discussions on Christian art and book presentations. During the event, visitors will be able to browse and buy books from Orthodox publishers at the traditional book fair.
St. Sophia is an early Christian Orthodox church, a type of basilica. According to historians, the church also has a very great general scientific importance as one of the oldest architectural monuments on the Balkan Peninsula.
Today it is among the most significant architectural values preserved from the early Christian development of Southeastern Europe, with worldwide significance.
