World Meteorological Organization (WMO) President Abdulla Al Mandous visited the National Centre for Polar Research (NCPR) at the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia on Monday, the Centre wrote on Facebook.

The meeting was attended by Ethiopian Metrology Institute Director General Fetene Teshome and Khaled Hussain Yaseen, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the World Meteorological Organisation.

On the Bulgarian side, participating were NCPR Deputy Director Dragomir Mateev, Senior Assistant Professor Rositsa Yaneva, Head of Scientific and Project Activities, and Karina Angelieva, Coordinator of European Programmes and Projects at the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute.

Al Mandous presented WMO's plans for an Antarctic research roadmap. The participants discussed opportunities for collaboration and a visit by scientists from the United Arab Emirates to the Bulgarian Antarctic Base.
