site.btaTwo State-owned Violins to Be Passed On to Young Talents

At a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday, prominent Bulgarian musicians Prof. Stoyka Milanova and Prof. Mincho Minchev handed over state-owned violins they had performed with in Bulgaria and abroad so they could be passed on to young talents, the Ministry said in a press release.

Minchev has played a 1716 Stradivarius violin. Milanova has performed with a 1733 Guarneri violin.

During the ceremony, which was attended by the caretaker Culture Minister, Nayden Todorov, and his deputy Viktor Stoyanov, Minchev said that he had performed with this instrument for more than 40 years of his professional career and that it was an honour for him to represent Bulgaria. Milanova was represented by her daughter, Yova Milanova.

Caretaker Minister Todorov and Deputy Minister Stoyanov expressed their deep appreciation to the Bulgarian virtuosos for having conquered stages around the world with their violins and for having taken good care of them in the past years.

The violins are to be handed over to young talents, following relevant procedures.

In 2023, Prof. Evgenia-Maria Popova was the first to hand over to the state a Gioffredo Cappa violin of 1691.

The Culture Ministry owns several remarkable musical instruments, including a 1733 Guarneri violin, a 1716 Stradivarius violin, a 1691 Gioffredo Cappa violin, and a 1785 Goffriller cello.
