An International Scientific Conference on Masquerade and the Local Community is taking place here on Friday ahead of the opening of the 30th Surva International Festival of Masquerade Games.
The traditional forum is organized by the Pernik Regional History Museum. The topic has been selected after a discussion among the participants in the 2023 conference. Sixteen papers are presented at this year's conference, mainly by Bulgarian scholars, researchers and museum experts from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, the Neofit Rilski Southwest University of Blagoevgrad (Southwestern Bulgaria), and the museums in Popovo and Pleven (Northern Bulgaria). Also taking part is Prof. Bata Vasic of the University of Nis in Serbia.
At the forum, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Lozanov, Head of the BTA Culture, Science, Education (LIK) Directorate, will deliver a report on "The Media Carnival: Legitimation of Public Voices".
