A Spanish-Bulgarian literary meeting between writers Georgi Gospodinov and Javier Cercas will take place on December 6. The event will be part of the 50th International Book Fair at the National Palace of Culture, the Cervantes Institute in Sofia said on Tuesday.

Teodora Tsankova, PhD in Western European Literature and lecturer at Sofia University, will moderate the talk, and consecutive translation will be provided by the Spanish writer and scholar Boryana Dukova.

"Georgi Gospodinov and Javier Cercas are among the most authoritative figures in the Bulgarian and Spanish literary panorama. The works of both of them touch the contemporary pulse of the creation and dissemination of literature in their countries and beyond, as evidenced by the fact that they have been translated into numerous languages, have been awarded major literary prizes and have enjoyed millions of sales worldwide," the institute writes.

Javier Cercas is the author of 13 novels that have been translated into more than 30 languages, according to the Cervantes Institute.

In Spain, Georgi Gospodinov is known for his books Time Shelter, Natural Novel and The Physics of Sorrow, the translation of the works is by Maria Vutova.
