site.btaBulgarian Presidential Institution Won't Have Representative for Donald Trump's Inauguration - President Radev

"There will be no representative of the presidential institution, but the talks at the highest political level will continue,"  President Rumen Radev told journalists here on Sunday, commenting on the upcoming inauguration ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump. Radev commented the topic during the FIS Snowboard World Cup competitions in Bansko, which he attended.

"I have an invitation, but I cannot go to this event myself. You know the American side and the White House does not invite foreign guests to an inauguration. Such invitations come from senators, they come from various associations, but it is much more important for us to develop our relations with the United States, our strategic partner and ally, at all levels. I think that we will continue to work in this direction," the Bulgarian head of State stressed. 

Asked by journalists about his meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, where the release of the Bulgarian sailors from the detained ship Galaxy Leader was discussed, Radev said that, unlike other people, he does not wish to speculate with this topic. More silence is needed here and the fate of our two sailors should no tbe used for personal PR. I see this constantly done by different people. Both the previous government and the presidential institution are constantly working on this. My meeting with the Ambassador of Palestine was along these lines. Work has not stopped. I hope in the coming days we will have a positive development," he said.

The leader of the Vazrazhdane party, Kostadin Kostadinov, also posted photos of his invitation to Trump’s inauguration, which he said he could not attend because he got it too late, his party said in a press release, which recalled Vazrazhdane’s links with the US Republican Party.

Kostadinov has on numerous occasions in the past expressed his support for Trump’s positions and the invitation he received came as no surprise to Vazrazhdane, the party said.
