The wholesale price of vegetables and fruit went up in the past week, according to data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets released on Sunday. The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.58% to 2.248 points. Last week, the index stood at 2.235 points.
The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
Oranges and mandarines are the fruit that appreciated the most in the past week, by 6.8% to BGN 2.03 per kilogram and by 9.8% to BGN 2.47/kg, respectively. Bananas appreciated by 4.4% to BGN 2.47/kg and grapefruit, by 1.4% to BGN 2.62/kg. The only fruit to depreciate were lemons, by 1.1% to BGN 2.18/kg, and apples, by 0.6% to BGN 1.63/kg.
The price of cabbage was the only one to decrease in the past week, by 0.3% to BGN 1.31/kg. Potatoes appreciated the most, by 8.6%, and traded at BGN 1.31/kg. Greenhouse cucumbers went up by 6% to BGN 3.67 per kilogram and tomatoes, by 1.8% to BGN 3.52/kg. The price of lettuce increased by 7.7% to BGN 1.32 per piece, of carrots by 2% to BGN 1.22/kg, and of onions by 2.6% to BGN 1.12/kg.
The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk increased by 0.1% to BGN 11.50/kg, while that of yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type remained unchanged at BGN 17.66/kg. Yoghurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) appreciated by 1.7% and traded at BGN 1.30 for 400 grammes, while fresh milk (with a fat content of 3%) depreciated by 0.5% to BGN 2.40 per litre. The price of butter from cow's milk went down as well, by 2.1% to BGN 3.04 per 125 grammes.
The wholesale price of poulty went down by 1.6% to BGN 6.39/kg and of eggs (size M), by 0.6% to BGN 0.35 per piece.
Rice appreciated by 2.5% and traded at BGN 3.36/kg and flour (type 500), by 3.1% to BGN 1.46/kg. Lentils depreciated by 1% and traded at BGN 4.38/kg. The price of cooking oil went down as well, by 2.1% to BGN 3.22/litre, and so did that of sugar, by 1% to BGN 1.91/kg.
