Finnish writer Maria Turtschaninoff will participate in the Sofia International Literary Festival for Children and Youth, which will take place between December 5 and 10 at Sofia's National Palace of Culture, the Izida publishing house said.

On December 6, Turtschaninoff will meet Bulgarian readers in the marble foyer of the National Palace of Culture and will sign autographs at the Izida stand, part of the 50th Sofia International Book Fair.

Maria Turtschaninoff was born in 1977 in Finland. In 2000, she graduated in Philosophy at the University of Gothenburg and specialized in Ecology. She worked as a journalist in Helsinki. In 2014, she published her book Maresi and won the Finlandia Prize in Children's and Youth Literature.

Turtschaninoff was awarded the Swedish YLE Literary Prize (2014) and the Swedish Cultural Foundation Grand Prize (2017). She was nominated for the Nordic Council Prize, as well as for the world's largest award for children's and young adult literature - the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (2018).
