Special Edition of International Chamber Festival in Plovdiv Presents Seven Concerts

A 59th International Chamber Festival Plovdiv 2023 will be opened at the Bishop's Basilica of Philippopolis on November 25. The first of the seven concerts in its programme is a recital by Vienna Philharmonic concertmaster Anton Sorokov (violin) and Alexander Kolev, the Prof. Assen Diamandiev Art Academy Plovdiv said on Wednesday.

On November 27, students from the Dobrin Petkov National School of Music and Dance’s Presto Ensemble will perform in a concert titled The Musical Future of Plovdiv.

On November 29, the concert Akademia Musika will bring together the Akademika guitar ensemble and the Detska Kitka choir.

On December 2, the audience will be able to enjoy the concert The Stars of Tomorrow featuring the violin recital of Stefan Hubenov.

A piano concert by Elena Nefedova and Ivan Donchev, who will travel from Rome specially for the festival, will take place on December 4.

Borislav Yasenov (flute) and Velislava Karagenova (piano) will present The Masterpieces of European Flute Music from the 20th Century on December 6.

The Festival will be closed on December 12 by a piano recital by London-based Ivan Yanakov, who will present his latest CD.

After the opening in the Bishop’s Basilica, all events will take place in Art Academy’s concert hall. Admission is free and open until the full capacity is reached.

Founded in 1964, the International Chamber Music Festival Plovdiv is the oldest chamber music festival in Europe and the longest-standing festival music forum with elite international and Bulgarian participation. The event received the prestigious EFFE label for European festival quality for 2022 - 2023.
