A Day of Morocco was held at the Aula of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia on Monday, the higher education establishment reported. The event was organized by Sofia University's Faculty of Geology and Geography and the Moroccan Embassy in Bulgaria on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Faculty, the 68th anniversary of the return from exile of the late King Mohammed V, and Morocco's Independence Day.

Attending the event were the Ambassadors of Morocco, France, Austria, Qatar, Egypt, Romania, Serbia, Libya, and Belarus, the Deputy Ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates and Belgium, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Kuwait.

Prof Kliment Naydenov, Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Geography, said that Morocco's national holiday is proof of the people's unwavering spirit. "From the ancient medinas to the lively cities, from the mountains to the sea, Morocco's history is one of diversity, strength and unbreakable will to overcome the challenges," he said.

Moroccan Ambassador Zakia El Midaoui congratulated the Faculty on its 60th anniversary and underscored the good relations between Morocco and Bulgaria, based on economic ties and cultural exchange.

The guests of the event were acquainted with Morocco's natural phenomena in a presentation by Assoc Prof Dimitar Zhelev and with the country's rich cultural and historical heritage in a presentation by assistant Kiril Nikolov. Traditional Moroccon products were on display.
